April 2, 1948 — October 24, 2025

Amarillo

Wanda Virginia Pair of Amarillo went home to be with her Lord on Friday October 24, 2025. Virginia was born on April 2, 1948 in Durant, OK to Lou Wanda and Sidney York Richard. The family moved to Amarillo in 1956. Virginia graduated from Tascosa High School in Amarillo in 1968. While there she met her future husband Bill Pair in their junior year. They were married on July 16, 1971 at First Baptist Church in Amarillo.

She loved her church. She started singing in the choir, but soon something else tugged at her heart. Virginia learned sign language at the church and that became a life-long vocation for her. She became a state certified Interpreter for the Deaf. She began interpreting church services at the First Baptist Church in Amarillo. She also interpreted special musical productions such as the Living Christmas Tree. Virginia also used her interpreting skills to help deaf students at Amarillo College for many years.

Along her journey, Virginia had two sons, William Richard Pair and Steven Wayne Pair. Richie was a special needs person, and she spent countless hours making sure he got into the correct classes in school and eventually graduate. Steven would become Band President of the Tascosa Band and Virginia would march along-side of the band at parades and go on band trips to out of town football games as a band parent.

During her spare time, she worked at the Amarillo Disney store. That allowed her to embrace a love of her’s – stuffed animals. She has stuffed animals scattered all around the house.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Sid and Lou Wanda Richard.

Virginia is survived by her husband Bill Pair, and sons Richie of Amarillo and Steven Pair and wife Katy of Canyon and a very special granddaughter Isabelle Pair. She is also survived by her brother Dickie Richard and wife Sharon of Carrollton and sister-in-law Sonya Pair of Bainbridge, IN and several nieces and nephews.
