Waylon Francis Adams, was born on November 24, 1942, in Amarillo, Texas. He passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service to his family and community. He was the cherished son of Julius Howard Adams and Nola Mae Adams.
Early Life and Education
Waylon grew up in the Texas Panhandle, graduating from Borger High School in 1961. He pursued higher education at Texas Tech University, where he was a proud member of the Saddle Tramps, earning his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1968. Shortly after, Waylon joined the United States Army Reserves, serving his country with honor.
Professional Career
Waylon’s professional life was marked by integrity and commitment. He spent 17 years as a realtor with Adams & Co. Realtors and Creative Home Brokers, guiding countless families in finding their homes. He later became the Amarillo market specialist for Atmos Energy, a role he excelled in for twenty-seven years until his retirement.
Community Involvement
He was a member of the Amarillo Executive Association, Texas Panhandle Builders Association and the Downtown Kiwanis Club.
Family and Personal Life
Waylon’s greatest joy was his family. He and the love of his life, Brenda, just celebrated their thirtieth wedding anniversary on October 21, 2025—a testament to their enduring partnership and devotion.
Waylon was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Howard Adams, and his nephew Kyle Adams.
He is survived by his beloved wife Brenda; sons Marcus and wife Kati, Matthew and wife Breezy; daughter Leslie and husband Simmie Callahan V. Waylon and Brenda are blessed with six grandchildren: Abbigayle Adams, Benjamin Adams, Andrew Adams, Simmie Callahan VI, Jule Adams, and Swede Adams. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Betty Schaffer, sister-in-law Sharon Adams, nephew Kurt and wife Kristie Adams, great nephew Austin and wife Kelsey, great-niece Peyton Adams, and great-great-nephew Cooper Adams.
A Lasting Legacy
Waylon Francis Adams will be remembered for his kindness, his dedication to family, and his unwavering service to his community. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The Funeral Service
Waylon’s memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. with Craig Albracht officiating. Military rites are provided by Volleys for Veterans. Burial will be private.
