William "Bill" Edward Snyder

William “Bill” Edward Snyder, 85, of Amarillo, TX passed away March 7, 2026.

Memorial service will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 13, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Bill was born on August 7, 1940, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, to Jack Herbert Snyder and Hulda Adelia Snyder, the oldest of two sons. He graduated from Meadville High School in 1958 and continued his education at Edinboro State Teachers College, the University of Maryland, Georgetown University, the New Mexico Graduate School of Banking, and T.B.A. Trust Banking School.

In the summer of 1960, Bill met the love of his life, Kathy, at Conneaut Lake. Their relationship grew into a lifelong partnership, and they were married on March 6, 1965, in Meadville, Pennsylvania. Bill and Kathy were blessed with 61 wonderful years together.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from March 1962 to January 1967, completing his service at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. It was there that Texas became home, where Bill and Kathy began building their life and raising their family.

After leaving the Air Force, Bill worked for a year as a Technical Systems Representative for Burroughs Corporation, which led to his relationship with Amarillo National Bank. Bill began working at Amarillo National Bank in September 1968 and served in various departments and positions until his retirement in 2006. He was always very grateful for the opportunities that Amarillo National Bank provided for him and his family. After retirement, Bill enjoyed consulting for Clift Land Brokers and BankOnIT.

Family was the center of Bill’s life. He loved his family unconditionally, and his first priority was always Kathy and their children. He was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and never hesitated to tell others about them. Bill was also the first person many called when they needed advice, a role that extended well beyond his immediate family.

Bill had a servant’s heart. His strong sense of civic responsibility was evident in his many years of service to the community through the Amarillo Downtown Lions Club, Salvation Army, Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, Amarillo Camp Fire Council, Amarillo Little Theatre, Caprock Cruisers Chapter of the American Family Motor Coach Association, Texas State Technical Advisory Board, TSTC Midcontinental Foundation Board, TSTC Waco Foundation Board, United Way of Amarillo, and the Texas Bankers Association. He served these organizations in many capacities, from general member to president. Bill served the Salvation Army for over 30 years and is a Lifetime Member, recently earned his 55 year service pin with Amarillo Downtown Lions Club. Bill was also a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Khiva Shrine, where he recently received his 60-year service pin.

Bill attended St. Stephen Church of Amarillo. His other interests included the Family Motor Coach Association and the American Power Boat Association. Bill had a love for cars and was known for his ability to fix almost anything.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Hulda Snyder, and his father- and mother-in-law, Donald and Sarah Osborne.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Snyder; his brother, James “Jim” Snyder and Shelly Kerr; and his children: son William “Casey” Snyder and wife Pam of Bushland, Texas; daughter Karen Groves and husband Darin of Roanoke, Texas; and daughter Ann Rowe and husband Tom of Littleton, Colorado. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jessica Hammit and husband Cory, William “Jake” Snyder and Catherine “Cat” Luft, Austin Rowe and wife Jennifer, Jack Groves, and Kaitlyn Snyder and fiancé Korbin Scroggins; and great-grandchildren Zayden, Zayne, Ava Grace, Paisley, Paige, and Cooper “Jr”.

Bill is also survived by cousins Chuck Anderson and wife Ruth, John Anderson and wife Diane, Mary Wagener and husband Phill, and Tommy Anderson and wife Eileen, along with several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Bill’s memory to the Texas Panhandle 100 Club, the Salvation Army, the Amarillo Downtown Lions Club, or the High Plains Food Bank.
