William Harold Scott

William Harold Scott, 92, of Amarillo, Texas passed away July 3, 2024.

Memorial service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 13, 2024 at St. Paul Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. 

William was born February 11, 1932 in Wichita Falls, TX to William Reed Scott and Reba Dearsteen Calhoun. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1949 and Texas A&M University in 1953. William married Barbara Jean Moritz on July 19, 1959. He was a businessman working for several different companies including, Diamond Shamrock, Farrell Manor Motel – owner and manager, Kernel Scotts Popcorn Plus – owner, and Commercial Real Estate. William was a member and served in many capacities with Amarillo West Rotary Club as President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary, The Executive Club as President, Texas A&M University Amarillo Muster Chairman, Amarillo Board of Convention and Visitor Activities as President, Tascosa Country Club Board as President, Chairman of T-Par-T Tournament, and Panhandle Hotel Association as President. While his children were growing up, he also coached them in various sports teams.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Reed Scott and mother, Reba Dearsteen Scott (Calhoun).

William is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Scott (Moritz); children, Sheryl Scott Stein, (Doug) of Argyle, Texas, Jana Scott Szymanski (Paul) of Simi Valley, California, Jeffrey William Scott (Christine) of Houston, Texas, and Lorie Scott Medlenka (Andrew) of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Grant Stein (Heather), Courtney Stein, Lindsay Szymanski, Scott Szymanski (Meagan), Katie Szymanski, Abbigayle Scott, Jak Scott, Clayton Medlenka, Megan Medlenka, and Austin Medlenka; and great-grandson, Henry Stein.
