Zandra was born on June 14, 1948, in Talihina, Oklahoma, to Paul and Charlene Tidwell. As the eldest of ten children, she embraced responsibility early and felt a call to nursing from a young age. She graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1966, earned her LVN from Amarillo College in 1968, her ADN from Ventura College in 1978, and her BSN from West Texas A&M University in 1995.
Throughout her long and dedicated career, Zandra was known as an exceptional nurse, serving primarily in Intensive and Critical Care Units. She cared for patients and families with steadiness, skill, and deep compassion for more than 30 years within the Bureau of Indian Affairs Health System and the Veterans Administration Health System, retiring in 2012.
Zandra’s strong and abiding faith in her Lord Jesus Christ guided her throughout her life, and her family takes comfort in knowing she is with Him now. She attended Trinity Fellowship for many years and participated weekly in Bible Study Fellowship, where she formed lasting friendships and nurtured her spiritual life. Her generous heart and her constant prayers for others leave a legacy of love that endures.
Proud of her heritage, Zandra was a tribal member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Charlene Tidwell; father, Paul Tidwell; and brothers Charles “Smokey” Tidwell and Roger Tidwell.
Zandra is survived by her son, Devon Lambert, and his wife, Amy, of San Antonio, Texas; her brothers Anthony and Max Tidwell; and her sisters Anna Tidwell, Paula (Joe) Morris, Cathy (Kenneth) Ferguson, Stephanie Tidwell, and Shannon Tidwell, all of Amarillo. She is also survived by many cousins in Oklahoma and Texas, as well as numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. Additional survivors include her aunts Jane “Sis” Mintz of Bokchito, Oklahoma, and Gloria Tidwell of Meadow, Texas.
