Betty Lou Ming, 79, of Amarillo, TX passed away on February 1, 2022.
A service will be held at 2 P.M., Monday, February 7, 2022, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, with Dr. G. A. Roach officiating. Burial will be at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon, TX. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Betty was born on January 28, 1943, to Juanita Toler and Harold Allen. Betty was a homemaker until the kids grew up and then the family moved to Missouri. She started working in home health care helping to care for the elderly. She loved to help people and made so many friends on the way. Betty also loved music, from oldies to country, Spanish, and even pop music. There was nothing that she wouldn’t sing along to. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Betty loved spending time in her garden every summer and tending to her rose bushes. Betty Lou took pride in doing her hair and makeup every single day of her life, even if she never left the house. She loved to decorate for Christmas, she would decorate everything in her house. She loved her dog, Chloe, very much; Chloe was treated like a queen. She loved her kids and her grandkids. She had the biggest heart and loved to help everybody, even strangers.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Laura Anna Tomlinson, and Bonnie Laxson; her grandson, Corey Taylor; her husband, George Calvin Ming Jr., son Tony Laxson; her father, Harold Allen; and her mother, Juanita Allen.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynell Drown, and her husband Derek of Amarillo, TX; her son, George C. Ming III and wife Tessa Ming, Floyd Laxson and wife Joanne, and Lloyd Laxson, all of Iowa; her sister, Juanita Latka, of Colorado; her grandchildren, Dustin, Braydon, Kreston, Kinsley, Ashton, Tina, Alisa, Briley, and Bethany; and her great-grandchildren, Oakley, Kayson, Madison, Isiah, and Kaylub.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M., Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
