Joy Reeves, 84, of Amarillo, Texas died Thursday, December 8, 2022

A private burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Joy was born May 14, 1938, in Lubbock, Texas to Bill and Anna Lee Pierce.

Joy spent her early years in Lubbock, then moved to California, and finally returned back to Texas.

She attended Horace Mann and Amarillo High School. Joy earned her Bachelor’s Degree from West Texas State University. She was a State Social Worker with the Department of Human Services and was a dedicated advocate for many children all over the State of Texas. She truly had a heart to protect and serve children.

She was a longtime member of San Jacinto Methodist Church, now known as Covenant Fellowship.

She loved living out in the country where she could watch all the many animals crossing through her land and creek. She was an avid bird watcher with binoculars in every room. She was also a Master Gardener.

Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Reeves; her mom, Anna Lee King; her beloved step-dad, Bud; her father, Bill; and a sister, Denise Atkins.

She is survived by two daughters, Janeane White and husband Jim, of Midland, Tx, and Tammi Ward and husband Pete, of Amarillo, Tx; sister, Rita Veal, of Lubbock, Tx; brothers, Sonny King and wife Brenda, and Mike King and wife Mary, both of Amarillo, Tx; grandsons, which were her pride and joy, are Blake Ward and wife Erica, and Nick Ward and wife Michelle, of Amarillo, Tx, and Ky White and wife Alex, of White Sands, New Mexico; and great-grandchildren, which she dearly loved, are Morgan, Emery, Grayson, Cohen, and Tegan.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 pm, Monday, December 12, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
