Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Darren was born May 28, 1966, in Mangum, OK to Larry and Gaye Fincher. He graduated from Canyon High School in 1984 where he was a decorated football player. Darren married Lori Jo Roth on June 12, 1987, in Amarillo, TX. He graduated from West Texas State University and worked with Modern Woodmen of America in the financial services and life insurance industry for almost 35 years.

Darren was an avid UFC and NASCAR fan. He also loved football and basketball, following Patrick Mahomes and old-school NBA Forward, Larry Bird. Darren enjoyed gambling; especially, blackjack and he carried a constant winning streak.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Gaye Fincher.

Darren is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lori Fincher; daughters, Bailey Kelley of Ft. Worth, TX, and Jaci Turner and husband Robert of Ft. Worth, TX; father, Larry Fincher of Amarillo, TX; sister, Gayla Jackson and husband Kenny of Amarillo, TX; parents-in-law, Larry and Nancy Roth of Amarillo, TX; sister-in-law, Becky Garrett of Amarillo, TX; niece, Alexa Gowdy, and husband Will; nephews, Jarrett Jackson and wife Brittany, Jake Garrett, and wife Rachel, and Sam Garrett and fiancé Cheyenne Ivey; great-niece and nephew, Blakely and Luke Gowdy; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins; loving dog, Chloe; and lots of grand dogs.

  2. Oh my! Just made aware of Darren’s passing! He was such a wonderful and caring person! He was such a great help to me in the loss of my first husband (Larry Fullen) and Larry always considered him to be a great friend with good wisdom (as did I)! Courteous, caring, light-
    hearted, and kind are qualities that come to mind!
    He will be missed!

  11. I am so saddened and shocked to hear of Darren’s passing. He was my agent and friend for nearly 30 years. I thought of him like a brother because he acted so much like mine. He gave so much and remembered so many details about all of his clients. Much too young and unexpected endings are difficult so I pray for comfort for the family. He was an exceptional man!

  12. The loss of Darren at such an early age is a tremendous blow to all of us left behind. Darren was a fine man and provided much needed support to our family when my father passed away almost 10 years ago. I know Darren and Dad are rejoicing together in heaven with the rest of our family who have already gone home. All of our love and prayers to the family.

  20. Some people bring joy wherever they go, some people bring joy whenever they go! Darren brought joy with him and wanted to be around him because you knew you would feel better after you talked with him. We need more Darren’s in the world. So sorry for this tragic news.
