January 6, 2023.  She was born on October 13, 1927, at her family home near Mexhoma, Oklahoma, where she later married her husband and best friend, Lloyd Julius Holloway.

Marie attended country schools until she enrolled at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas at age 16. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Foods & Nutrition.

She and Lloyd moved to Cimarron County, where they farmed, ranched, and raised their children.  Marie was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Boise City, where she taught children’s Sunday School and sponsored the Girls Auxiliary (GAs) for many years. She also sang in the church choir and served the Lord faithfully all her life.

Marie went on seventeen Mission Trips to Mexico and was a long-time devoted supporter of Reaching Souls International.  She raised a large garden each summer and on occasion, drove a tractor and grain truck. She taught several of her children to operate a tractor while Lloyd was otherwise occupied on the farm/ranch. She routinely delivered hot gourmet meals to family members operating farm machinery along with the obligatory gallon of sweet, iced tea. She dropped the tailgate of the family station wagon, spread a tablecloth, and laid out a spread of amazing homegrown and cooked food.

  1. Marie was one special lady. Most likely the last surviving member of the Vinther First Cousins of which my daddy was one. Prayers for all her family.
