Alan “Pee Wee” Dale Lyons

Alan “Pee Wee” Dale Lyons, 78, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023, at his home.

Private family services will be held.

Alan was born June 24, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas to Langston Lyons and Dorothy Lyons. He graduated from Amarillo high school in 1962 playing varsity shortstop for the Sandies. He eventually earned his bachelor’s degree from West Texas A&M University in 1966. Alan was a claim adjuster with many different insurance companies throughout his career while owning a trio of dry cleaners. Alan’s favorite hobbies were refereeing basketball, golfing, and especially playing softball. During tournaments, his teammates would frequently get mad at him for wanting to lose their first game in order for them to get a chance to play more games. Finally, in the later years, his time was spent watching the Houston Astros and every other sporting event available on television.

Alan is survived by his two sons, Danny Alan Lyons, and his wife, Deborah Lyons of Amarillo, Texas, and Devin Todd Lyons of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Jerry Bryant of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Judith Bural of Muskogee, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy; and his son, Darren Brent Lyons in 2010.
