Alex Fred Martinez, 73, of Amarillo, TX passed away on February 9, 2021.
Rosary will be said at 6:00 P.M., Friday, February 12, 2021, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Alex was born on February 20, 1947, in Canyon, TX to Virginia and Conrad Martinez. Alex married his wife of 54 years on February 19, 1966. He served in the United States Army for many years. Alex was self-employed and owned Martinez Janitorial for 27 years. After retirement, Alex was fortunate enough to take part in the V.A. Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in September of 2019. Alex was a loving husband, father, and grandpa. He had a great sense of humor and loved joking around with his grandkids. He was best known for singing silly songs with his grandkids.
Alex will be greatly missed by so many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Virginia; and two brothers, Johnny and Jesse Martinez.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Cruz Martinez; two sons, Alex Martinez, Jr. and wife Elma; Reuben Martinez and wife Michelle, both of Amarillo, TX; nine grandkids, Derek, Matt, Logan, Isaiah, Alexandra, Maryssa, Savana, Isabel, and Steven; sixteen great-grandkids; and eight siblings, Evelyn Estrada, Lind-Jean Nicholson, Mary Hernandez, Erlinda Samora, Nick Martinez, and Quintin Martinez, all of Amarillo, TX, Dorthy Martinez, of Stephenville, TX, and Conrad Martinez, of Fort Summer, NM.
