Ann Elizabeth Thomas, 76, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on October 25, 2023.

Ann Elizabeth Thomas was an Adventurer. She traveled the world, traveling overland through South and Central America, trekking in the Himalayas, and going on safaris in Kenya. She climbed Mount Kilimanjaro at 50 years old. Ann also went on a bush safari to Uluru (formerly known as Ayers Rock) Australia.

She was a successful businesswoman, owning The Travel Store for many years. Ann lent her talents to many funding, raising, and charitable organizations. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, initiated at Alpha Theta chapter at the University of Texas. Ann was also a sustaining member of the Junior League of Amarillo.

Ann graduated from Amarillo High School, Christian College, and the University of Texas with a degree in Art History. Her taste was exquisite, and she had a natural artistic way of decorating. Did we mention that she was always the most fun to be around? She was the life of every party and a naturally funny storyteller. Ann was beautiful in both person and spirit. She loved her life to the fullest with flair and on her own terms; and when the end came, it came after a short illness.

She is survived by her dog, Edna Ann Thomas; her cat, Miss Kitty both of the home; sisters, Jane Thomas of Amarillo, TX, and Susan Thomas Boddy of Henrietta, TX; cousins she grew up with, Dr. Pat Livingston of Oklahoma City, OK and Anne Livingston of Oklahoma City, OK; niece, Christian Boddy Bills; nephew, Thomas Boddy; her almost nephew, Lindsey Hodges; and a whole lot of little kids under the age of 6 with tricky names that frankly, she didn’t bother to learn!

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Edward F. Thomas and Doris Winston Thomas; Buddy the Yellow Lab; and Maya the Black Lab/Irish Setter.

We loved her dearly and will miss her greatly. She would ask that you open a really great bottle of champagne, toast her with a glass or two, and tell a funny story about her.

Memorial services will be at 3:00 PM, Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

  2. Precious beautiful Ann, a sophisticated look with style like her Mother & Father. Enjoyed a sweet 16 birthday dinner at her home with other girl friends. Her mother made a toast with champagne my first time to see one. The girls watched. Glamorous party & so fun. She took me to Amarillo Country Club for a Sunday Buffett 2 or 3 times. We were dressed up & she looked like a movie star. Loved sitting next to her on the plane back from Martha’s Vineyard trip from about 8 years ago. So great to catch up one on one. Loved Ann for her thoughtful ways, bright, sensitive to helping others, deep person, interesting mind, authentic, caring, straightforward style, fun, & think joy when think of Ann. Had happy times with Ann & So happy to have known Ann & my heart will miss not seeing her again. My life was richer & better from having known Ann. Do remember you Jane & Susan, sisters she loved who were sweet. She cared deep for people & her immediate family. Her parents so nice Her dad took care of a sprained ankle & knee from skiing fall.
