Barbara Ann Weaver Gaffney, 78, of Amarillo, Texas died on 30th day of November, 2019.

Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Monday, December 2, 2019 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.  Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on July 23, 1941 to Robert and Pauline Weaver.  She graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1959.

She married her husband, Harry J. Gaffney at Buchanan Street Methodist Church on April 2, 1960.

She enjoyed listening to Gospel music, reading, watching old movies, traveling, volunteering at the hospital in her spare time.  She was an active member of Hillside Christian Church and her strong faith was always evident in what she did and what she said.

Barbara had many supporters at the Cottages at Quail Creek.  She resided at the Cottages the last four years of her life.

Survivors include her husband, Harry; her daughter, Terry and husband Jack Long of Georgetown, TX; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Ammerman of Hudson, NY; her brother, Robert J. Weaver and wife Linda; her nephews, Robert Weaver of Frisco, TX and Scottie Weaver of Amarillo, TX; and her niece, Laura Weaver of Amarillo, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Barbara to the Alzheimer’s Association, 415 SW 8th Ave, Amarillo, TX 79101.

  1. I was sad to hear of Barbara’s passing. I was in her Palo Duro High School graduating Class of 1959 as well as attended the same church as Barbara. She was well thought of by the members of our 1959 class and will be missed.

  2. Sorry for your loss but she is in a better place. I worked with Barbara at Oak Dale Elementary School in Amarillo. She was such a delight to know. I always considered her as a good friend. I will see her again one day. Love you Barbara!

  4. We are sad because of her departure from this earth, but we can have joy because of her entrance to heaven. Even during her high school days, she was always a Christian and delightful person.
