Precious in the site of the Lord is the death of His saints.  Our precious mother and grandmother, Barbara Jo Akin, went into the arms of Jesus, her Savior, on June 17, 2022.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in Llano Cemetery with pastor Steven Waterhouse of Westcliff Bible Church officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Barbara was born on August 14, 1934 in Chico, Texas to Ollie and Joseph Acker.  Barbara married Hugh Akin on June 22, 1952 in Portales, New Mexico.  Barbara was a secretary until their daughters were born, then she was a full time mama.  Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, and her servant’s heart was always ready with a loving smile, encouraging word or wonderful snack she would prepare.  She loved learning God’s word, making sequin calendars, reading and watching classic movies and TV shows.

Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn and husband Dennis Leslie of Amarillo, Linda and husband Jeff Cockrell of Flower Mound, Texas, and two grandsons, Caleb Leslie and wife Josefina and Ethan Leslie and wife Lynzee, all of Amarillo.

Mama, we will see you when the trumpet sounds.  Come quickly Lord Jesus!
