It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ben William McCarty, Jr., of Amarillo, TX on February 29, 2024.
Ben was born on October 31, 1953, in Amarillo, TX to Ben William McCarty, Sr. and Clydie Bunch.
Ben married Carolyn Sue McCarty on July 30, 1972, together they shared a beautiful life.
Ben enjoyed hiking the Palo Duro Canyon, spending time with family, traveling, attending the Texas State Fair, and listening to old Country Music.
Ben spent 6 years serving as a Marine for the United States Marine Corps. After the Marines, Ben joined the Amarillo Police Department. Upon retiring, Ben spent time with his kids and grandchildren as often as he could, they were his true pride and joy.
Ben is survived by his brother, Thomas Casaus; two sisters, Bobby McCarty Ryan, and Teresa Christianson; his children, Jewel McCarty, Benbo McCarty, Mark McCarty, and April King; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Ben was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; his parents; two sisters, Brenda and Diane; and two brothers, Ira and Terry.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
