
Bernie Gutierrez, 71, of Amarillo, TX died Sunday, August 29, 2021.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 3, 2021, at Llano East Cemetery with Randy Davis officiating. Military rites provided by Volleys for Veterans. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Bernie was born June 27, 1950, in Tucumcari, NM to Bernard and Freda Gutierrez. He graduated from high school in Albuquerque, NM. Bernie served in the Marines from 1969-1971 during Vietnam.
On March 29, 2002, he married Terri Burch.
Bernie was a car salesman and manager for several dealerships in Amarillo. He also owned Premier Auto and Panhandle Arborist. He was a member of Oasis Southwest Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Terri Gutierrez, of Amarillo, TX; daughter,
Amber Leake, of Amarillo, TX; a son, Brett Leake and wife Mica, of Canyon, TX; family in Albuquerque, NM; eight grandchildren, Skylyn, Zimirie, Parker, Kourtlyn, Kingzton, Kashton, Khi, and Everett; and one great-grandchild, Carter.
Visitation with the family will be from 6-7 p.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
Bernard lived across the street from me and was my friend. As kids, we played on the same neighborhood football, basketball, track, and baseball team. He was a fun and cheerful friend.
Bernard, you blessed my life and I’ll remember you always. 🙏
He was an AMAZING PROVIDER for his wife, his kids, grandkids, AND grand baby. They kept him going going going and he loved them with EVERY fiber of his being and they love him too.
Uncle Bernie my heart my HERO May you rest in peace in Paradise. I’m thankful for a lifetime of smiles and laughs. You will FOREVER be remembered left 👣 prints on my heart n soul. To my old friend Bernie was one was one of greatest guys I have ever known. He would help a person in need if need be he had your back. We had many good times in all the years I knew him. My most heart felt condolences go out to all him family I will surely miss him.
