Jeanie was born on August 8, 1943, in Sayre, Oklahoma.  She graduated from Sayre High School in 1961.  At that time, she met the love of her life, Dale Matlock.  They married in 1961, made their home in Amarillo, and celebrated 59 years of marriage, prior to Dale’s passing in 2020.

Jeanie was a homemaker, raising Brad, Brent, and Jan. She began her career as a cosmetologist, before finding her true calling in life, which was childcare. She worked as a teacher’s aide before opening her own daycare, Kids, etc. She owned and operated one of the best daycare facilities in Amarillo for 12 years.  She touched and mentored many lives.

Jeanie and Dale were blessed with an early retirement, which allowed them to travel for many years.  Their many trips included family and friends, pulling their 5th wheel, and meeting new people. Jeanie never met a stranger and loved to talk! Jeanie’s inviting and loving personality made her loved by all.  She was the best cook, Nanny, Mom, and sister.  Her family will forever cherish the memories made at Sunday dinners and trips to the lake.  Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family!

She was preceded in death by their infant son, Ronnie Dale Matlock in 1962, her parents, and one sister.

Nanny’s legacy she leaves behind include Brad (son) & Brenda Matlock; Brent (son) and Roxanne Matlock; Jan (daughter) & Troy Lowery; Zachary (grandson) & Jenny Matlock; Bailee (granddaughter) & Jansen Riddell; Madison (granddaughter) & Parker Martinez; Rance (grandson) & Melissa Lowery; Jace Lowery (grandson); Breken Matlock (grandson); five great grandchildren, Austin & Livi Matlock, Caroline, Bailor & Emmerson Riddell.
