Bessie Marie Starkey Reid, 71, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on March 24, 2023.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Trinity Baptist Church with Bobby Reid officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Bessie was born in Ralls, Texas on March 29, 1951, to Nada and Jackie Starkey. She married Clifton Reid on March 26, 1972, at Buchanan Street Baptist Church. Together, they loved to travel and go on cruises. Bessie’s favorite place to visit was Port Aransas, Texas. She loved the sunshine, swimming, and spending time on the beach.

Bessie worked at Trinity Baptist Church Mother’s Day Out program for over 40 years. She loved to serve her church family with childcare. You could always find her in the nursery holding babies.

Bessie loved her family and friends greatly. She was the most unselfish person.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nada and Jackie Starkey; brother, Marvin Starkey; nephew, Warren Gene Davis; and nephew, Jackie Lee Starkey.

Survivors include her husband, Clifton Reid; daughter, Christina Browder and husband James; son, T.C. Reid and wife Carrissa; grandchildren, Katherine Reid and Liam Reid; sister, Jackie Davis; and brother, Michael Starkey.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

  2. I worked with Bessie for many years at TBC. She was always a pleasure to work with. She loved those babies! She will be greatly missed.
