Betty Dean Cowling, 86, of Amarillo, TX died on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.

The family will receive friends in Amarillo, TX before the service from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. 

Betty was born on March 10, 1934, in Nashville, AR to Lloyd and Odessa Brazile. She married Kelsey Eugene Cowling on December 16, 1950, in Nashville, AR.  

Betty was preceded in death by her husband; her brother, Harold Brazile; and her parents.

She is survived by her son, Ronald Cowling (wife Rosemarie) of Fort Smith, AR; daughter, Rebecca Forsyth (husband Rex) of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Tiffany Amanda, Zachary, Hannah, Sarah, Laura and their spouses; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She had lived in Amarillo since 1955 and worked in a variety of jobs in which she helped people of all walks. Betty was involved with her church in early years; she cooked and provided snack meals for the youth choir, the SJBC River Ministry and she was a master home cook. She was always planning the next meal before finishing breakfast, and her Sunday dinners for family will be missed. She leaves a legacy of generosity, compassion and love.

  1. Loved your MawMaw so much! Definitely will be many stars in her crown in heaven for her tireless service for Him in loving her family & all who knew her. Looking forward to a reunion in heaven.
