Betty Lou Roots Deckard
Betty Lou Roots Deckard, 90, of Amarillo, TX died Wednesday, October 19, 2022.
Private family services were held. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Betty was born February 18, 1932, in Amarillo, TX to George and Gladys (Arnold) Roots. She graduated from Amarillo High School and later received an Associate Degree from Amarillo College. She married Don Thomas Deckard on September 8, 1950.
Betty committed her early life to raising her four children. Later she was an avid community volunteer including the hospital auxiliary and Care Net Pregnancy Center. She loved reading and was an amateur writer. Her favorite book was the Bible and she had a strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. She will be dearly missed by her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Deckard; her parents, George and Gladys Roots; and her daughter, Gretchen Deckard Schartz.
Survivors include her son, Tom Deckard and wife Carolyn, of Amarillo, TX; her daughter, Georgeanna Deckard and husband Steve Greiner, of Canyon, TX; her son, Kevin Deckard and wife Becky, of Canyon, TX; six grandchildren, Steven Lee, Andrew Deckard, Nicholas Deckard, Samantha Greenwood, Alex Deckard and Scott Deckard; and five great-grandchildren.
