passed peacefully with her children by her side on May 19th, 2023 at the age of 79. Betty was the fifth, and youngest, child of Thurman Wesley Sain and Lucy May Sain. When Betty was younger, she loved going to the movies and hanging out with her dad. Sometimes, while her dad was working at the Tri-way garage, she would go spend time there and even take naps in the backseat of the cars. Anytime she had the chance to spend time with her daddy, she took it. She has always enjoyed spending simple time with her loved ones.

She attended school in Amarillo, Texas, then spent most of her career at Owen’s Corning as a PRQ lab technician. She worked there for 19 years, then retired to devote her life to her family.

From the late 1990’s, Betty made her title of “Granny” her priority. Her goal was to be the best Granny there ever was to her 11 grandchildren, and if you knew her, you would know she surpassed that goal by miles. Her grandkids were her life and her passion, and she made sure they knew that.

Betty was a believer in Jesus Christ and an avid Facebook Farmviller.

The world will not be the same without Granny in it. She touched the heart of each and every person she met, and has left everyone with memories they will cherish forever.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Thurman & Lucy Sain; four siblings, Harold Sain, Charles Sain, Don Sain, and Ann Mulanax; nephew, Mike Gonce; granddaughter, Candace Ridley, all of Amarillo.

Survivors include her children, Tracy Shephard & husband Bill of Amarillo, Melvin Rose II & wife Tammy of Amarillo, Autumn Maxwell & husband Brian of Cave Springs, Arkansas, Chris Rose & wife Charla of Amarillo, and Caron Walthour of San Antonio; grandchildren, Amanda, Shea, Star, James, Justin, Promise, Haleigh, Joshua, Dallas, and Hunter; many great-grandchildren; and one expected great great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Boxwell Brother’s Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Llano Cemetery at 2900 S Hayes St, Amarillo, TX 79103.

  1. Tracy her daughter is a great tribute to who Betty Rose was. A loving, caring wonderful lady. A woman that gave her all to her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. She’d tell it like it was,but always remained in your corner regardless.
She is home now. God Bless ⚘❤

  2. I love you so much Aunt Betty. Thank you for everything you did for us. I am so thankful that you and Mike talked almost every day and were able to keep each other company. We both loved you like a second mom.
