Billie Lee Dees, Jr., 67, of Amarillo, TX died Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

Memorial services will be at 3:00 P.M., Friday, June 17, 2022, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Billie was born September 29, 1954, to Iris Bell Dees and Billie Lee Dees, Sr. in Houston, TX, and raised in West Virginia.   He was a veteran and member of the American Legion.   Billie was a jack-of-all-trades and truck driver. He was married to Loretta Bruce Dees.

Billie was a good man with a good heart.    His niece Katie was his baby girl who grilled out on Father’s Day.  Billie always said, “I love you”.

He enjoyed music and especially liked the old-style country music artists.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Bruce Dees.

Survivors include his sister, Carolyn Tazwell, of Amarillo, TX; a stepson, Lewis Gunter, of Amarillo, TX; and his niece, Katie Lyerly, of Amarillo, TX.

  1. So sorry for your loss. I remember Billie growing up in junior high. Did not know him well, however, enough to know (as you state above) he did have a good heart.

    From time to time, I do think about people growing up and Billie is one of those. It sounds like he has a good life. Special Forces??? WOW – that tells you a lot about his character!!!
