Billy “Bill” Dean Wedgeworth

Billy “Bill” Dean Wedgeworth, 93, of Amarillo, TX passed away on January 22, 2021.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 25, 2021, in the Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Bill was born in Amarillo, TX on January 25, 1927, to Oscar and Ola Wedgeworth. He was a lifetime resident of Amarillo, TX. He graduated from Amarillo High School, where he was a member of the marching band. He also attended Amarillo College. Bill married Betty Anglin on June 2, 1950. He served in the Army during WWII.

Bill was a member of First Baptist Church and a Mason in the Masonic Lodge. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 44 years.

Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, Paw Paw.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Hazel Ewing.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Betty Wedgeworth; brother, Rex Wedgeworth and wife Bobbie, of Katy, TX; daughters, Janis Watson and husband David, of Lantana, TX, and Deanie Murphy and husband Gary of Amarillo, TX; grandsons, Benjamin Smith, of Amarillo, TX, Daniel Smith and wife Brooke Anne, of Amarillo, TX, Paul Watson, of Beaverton, OR, and Jonathon Watson and wife Linda, of Burnaby, BC; nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.

  1. Betty and family, Our deepest sympathy and prayers for peace and comfort for your family. Bill was so admired in our Sunday School class; a fine Christian gentleman who has inspired us with his faithfulness.

  2. My love and prayers to you, Betty. I pray for your daughters, too. Bill was such a gentleman. I enjoyed visiting with him in our Sunday school class, also playing bridge. 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
