Billy Joe Massey AKA (Papaw Billy) age 65 of Amarillo, TX escaped this shitty world on August 5th, 2022 in Dallas, Tx fighting the good fight surrounded by family.

Billy started his journey back on July 20th, 1957, as a surprise to Seth and Doris Massey.

He accomplished his life goals of holding the wahoo championship, riding the dragon, and spending all his kid’s inheritance.

Billy could be found at the casino, on the back of his Harley, or at the lake. He was an avid supporter of his great-grandson’s outlaw kart racing.

Billy left behind a heck of a lot of junk his wife and kids have no idea what to do with. Among his beloved treasures are bolts and screws that go to something, somewhere. Broken down vehicles he was gonna get to someday & his “angel dog” Tika Joe Massey.

Ask anyone who attended Alamo Catholic High School with him and you will surely learn some colorful stories that are better left not repeated.

Billy taught us about incredible work ethic and dedication. He served as a conductor for 37 years for BNSF Railroad.

Billy took his last train ride on June 22, 2017. He continued to “go to work” somewhere or for someone for the remainder of his days.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Seth and Doris; brother, Wayne; two sisters-in-law, Pat and Lynn; nephew, Jason; and granddaughter, Kendal.

Survivors include the love of his life, wife Sherry, the Brady bunch which includes daughter Emily Millheim, husband Phil, daughter Tara Chandler, fiancé James, son Ricky Longbine wife Jennifer, son Jinsun Massey, wife Nikki, son Terry Longbine, wife Ashley and daughter Elizabeth Massey, fiancé Clayton. Billy has respectfully requested six Dallas Cowboys as pallbearers so that the Cowboys can let him down one last time.

    1. We didn’t know Billy, but read his obit. Man did we have a good laugh . I’m sure he would have loved knowing he can still make people laugh even when he’s gone. We pray he loved and knew the Lord as his savior.
