Bobby Eugene Woodrell, 72, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on April 6, 2023.  The family is holding a service to honor the amazing and touching life of Bobby Eugene Woodrell at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 15, 2023, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, TX 79109. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be mailed to the Food Pantry at the Church of the Valley located at 6565 Vesper Ave, Van Nuys, CA 91411.

He was born on July 23, 1950, to Fern and Gene (Woody) Woodrell in Harrison, Arkansas. Bobby attended Palo Duro High School, joined the United States Army, and then graduated from the University of Texas to begin his career in finance.

During his career, he helped write legislation for student loans while working for Washington’s Department of Education. He later became a Chief Financial Officer and Software Developer in the credit union industry while working in Los Angeles, California. Bobby’s high intellect also afforded him membership to MENSA International.

After many years of friendship and utilizing his stellar flirting skills, Bobby married Brenda Kay. He and Brenda Kay moved back to his home, Amarillo, in 2022.

Beyond fiercely loving his family, Bobby had many passions. He was an avid L.A. Dodgers fan, attended as many games as he could, and loved buying his grandchildren a buffet of ballpark cuisine. Bobby loved riding his Harley Davidsons, was a member of the H.O.G., and enjoyed cruising in his Corvette. He would endure long days at Disneyland for his family’s joy—which he never ceased to provide to—and rested only during “It’s a Small World.” He also gave the saying “you betcha” one million different meanings.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Fern and Gene (Woody) Woodrell. He is survived by the “perfect” love of his life Brenda Kay Woodrell, their child Hope Richards, his three children Paul (Robin) Woodrell, Robert (Alesha) Woodrell, Wendy Dawn (Matthew) Meissenheimer, siblings Bea (Warren) Howard, Karen (Ricky) Brown, and Woody (Lynne) Woodrell, thirteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
