
Bobby Wayne Hughes, 87, of Amarillo, TX entered the gates of Heaven on Monday, February 20, 2023.
At Bobby’s request, no services will be held.
Bobby was born August 18, 1935, in Vernon, TX to William and Violet Hughes.
Bobby was a world class caliber musician. His talents spanned the industry and included his being a singer, songwriter, local radio personality, disc jockey, and band leader that performed at the Avalon and the Country Sound in Amarillo in the late 60’s to the 80’s. At 87 years of age, he was still recording music.

He also held jobs at Pioneer Natural Gas, car sales at Plains Chevrolet and even had his own backhoe service.
Bobby loved his family and friends.
The family extends thanks to BSA Hospital doctors and staff for the exceptional care they provided Bobby.

Survivors include his son, Billy Hughes, Bruce Hughes and wife Sherry, a sister he loved dearly, Lou Mansel; two guys he considered his sons, Mike Fort, and Loyd Lanning; his grandkids, aunts, nephews, cousins.
So very sorry to hear about Bobby! My parents had known Bobby for many years, ( Frances and Lawrence Boehning)! We all use to go dancing wherever he was playing at the time and we had so much fun! He will be truly missed! Deepest sympathy to his family’s and friends!

All my life I’ve had many nicknames. Arnold, Pops, Old Man, Smoke, and of late, Sr.. My dad, Charles Adams, Blackie Foster, and Uncle Bob all called me,”Moose” my whole life. That one always meant the most to me. Sad, won’t be hearing that one again. Luvu mucho and will miss you Uncle Bob!
