Brenda Sue Howard, 55, of Amarillo, TX died Sunday, September 29, 2019.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2019, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Brenda was born October 29, 1963, in Dallas, TX to David and Jackie Cox.  She attended Amarillo College where she earned an Associate’s degree.  She earned her Bachelor’s degree from West Texas A&M and was earning her Master’s degree from the University of Arlington.

She married James Howard on November 14, 1987, in Amarillo.

Brenda worked as a BSN-RN at BSA Hospital.  She enjoyed going to the casinos with her dad and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, James Howard, of Amarillo, TX; four sons, David Hamilton, Jason Hamilton, James Howard II, and wife Vickie, and Jacob Howard, all of Amarillo, TX; her goddaughter, Alyssa Mason, of Amarillo, TX; her father, David Cox, of Mesquite, TX; her mother, Jackie Bolden and husband, Tommy, of Amarillo, TX; a sister, Charlene Samuels, of Amarillo, TX; four grandchildren, Diondra, Shanty, A.K., and Kelton;  three great-grandchildren, Trevor, Victoria, and Ashlynn.

The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Family Support Services, 1001 S Polk St, Amarillo, TX 79101;  or to Susan G. Komen, 619 S. Tyler #102, Amarillo, TX 79101.

  2. My heart breaks for each of you. I pray you all find the strength during this tragedy. Remember the cherished memories and embrace them. Know you all have a beautiful angel shining down watching over each of you.
    Brenda, you are one of a kind. Genuine, kind, loving, a fighter. You always pushed through. I will always remember your smile, and your poise. Such a Lady! Such a warm and gentle soul. God called upon you to come home and may you Rest in Peace forever. Your passing leaves me speechless, you were a real one Brenda. TRU to the end . I love you forever Brenda.
