Cassie Simpson, 83, of Amarillo, TX died Saturday, February 20, 2021.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 24, 2021, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, with Dr. G. A. Roach officiating. Burial will be at Llano East Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Cassie was born on February 14, 1938, in Bertram, TX to Rosie Ethel and Victor Floyd Hart. She grew up in a family of 9. She had worked at Austin Middle School as the cafeteria manager for over 29 years. Cassie loved gardening, watching and feeding the birds, bowling, playing bingo, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She loved spending the holidays with her family and her family enjoyed her cooking. Cassie was the inspirational matriarch of the family and she kept Christ in our lives.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Bullock, Pam Kelly, Kathy Propest, Bobbie Simpson, and two bonus daughters, Teresa McCollum, and Linda Watson; two sisters, Doris Whitely, and Ethel Watts; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

  1. Cassie was the cafeteria manager when I was principal at Austin Middle School. She was always pleasant and cooperative to work with and a pro at her position. She is the kind of person any principal would want running the school cafeteria. She was kind to the children and the staff loved her. Thanks again Cassie for all you did for Austin. You will always be remembered.

  2. Aunt Cassie was such a special person. I always loved her contagious smile and laughter . I have so many great memories of my Aunt Cassie, Uncle Bob, Debbie, Pam, Kathy and Bobbie Jo. I love you all and you’re in my prayers. God bless.

  3. Cassie I met through her daughter Bobbie Simpson. She was such a sweet & loving lady. I remember most about her was the love for her dogs. One had puppies & she was worried about giving any away. She was afraid they might not be taking care of. This stuck with me the generosity & caring nature. Bless her & her dear family.

  4. Cassie was like a second mom to me when I was a child. Debbie was my best friend and I spent many hours at her house being loved and taken care of by Cassie. My heart full of love goes out to Debbie, Pam , Cathy and Bobbie Jo, You are all in my thoughts and prayers,

  5. Aunt Cassie was a wonderful woman and matriarch of the family of beautiful women. She had the most wonderful laugh when was tickled with her family. She was an inspiration and very competitive when playing games at the annual family reunions. Cassie will be greatly missed by us all.

  6. Cassie was a special friend. I remember when I was little & she kept me safe in her home until my mom got home. I haven’t been around her lately, but I always called her my friend. She will be missed. My prayers are for the family that was like sister to me. All my love.
