Cathy Ann Ward, 62, of Amarillo, TX died Thursday, November 2, 2023.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Cathy Ann Ward, who departed from this world on November 2, 2023, in Amarillo, Texas. Cathy, affectionately known as “Lolli” to her four beloved grandchildren, was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, wife, and friend. Cathy left a mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Her memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 6, 2023, at Encounter Church, 200 Tascosa Rd., with Joe Dwyer officiating.  Burial will be held Monday, November 6, 2023, at Llano Cemetery, 2900 Hayes St., at 10:00 a.m., prior to the Memorial Service. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Cathy was born July 22, 1961, in Amarillo, TX to Kenneth Cheek and Patsy (Armstrong) Cheek.  As little sister in the family, and perceived to be “daddy’s favorite,” she endlessly teased her brother, Sandy, and sister, MaLissia. However, she adored and loved her siblings and parents. Core beliefs such as selfless service, family centeredness, and kindheartedness were engrained at a young age, and demonstrated throughout her life.

She was a cheerleader at Fannin Junior High School, where she met and became best friends with her future husband, Brian Ward, later known as “Pop.”  Their relationship blossomed and were high school sweethearts while attending Amarillo High School.  They were wed on July 3, 1981, in Amarillo, and have been inseparable ever since.

Throughout Cathy’s journey, she touched the lives of countless individuals with her kindness and generosity. She was known for her unwavering love for her family, friends, and even fur babies, like Charlie, the crazy Mini-Aussie.

Cathy was spunky, fun, and the life of the party.  However, at her core, was compassionate, giving, and would help anyone in need.  Cathy often blessed others less fortunate with shopping trips whenever there was a need.  She was the rock of the family and loved family get-togethers.  If you were a guest in her home, you would enjoy the food she loved to cook, and never leave hungry or empty-handed.

When not working as a manicurist at Mane Tamers Beauty Salon, Cathy enjoyed playing Bingo, the slot machines, shopping online at Zulily, or simply loving on her children or grandchildren.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Sandy Cheek.

She is survived by her husband, Brian Ward; children, Brandon Ward and wife Jordan, and Kayla Maxwell and husband Nathan; grandchildren, Kambry Ward, Emma Ward, Carder Maxwell, and Paityn Maxwell; her sister, MaLissia Miller and husband Rodney; her sister-in-law, Becky Howard; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her great companion and fur-baby, Charlie.

Cathy may no longer be with us in person, but her memory will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to be a part of her journey.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Lolli’s Christmas Give-a-way @ Venmo:  Cathy-Ward-52; a project dedicated to providing Christmas gifts to children in need.

The family is requesting for friends and family to sign Cathy’s casket on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, between Noon – 5:00 P.M.

  1. Cathy and I were besties during our Junior school years. Our brothers were best friends and our parents were friends. Cathy was so much fun to be with and we loved riding our motorcycles together. We were cheerleaders together and had so much fun hanging out. Life and distance kept us from being together in our adult years but I will never forget all the childhood memories I have of Cathy. She was a precious friend to me! Rest in peace in the arms of Jesus Cathy. You are dearly missed for now but not forever. We will see you again in our heavenly home !
