Cathy Jean Ruff Skalak
Cathy Jean Ruff Skalak, 65, of Crestview, FL passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022.
Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Cathy was born on January 5, 1957, in Yakima, Washington to George and Margret Ruff. She was raised throughout the Yakima Valley and moved to Carson, Washington her Junior year of high school graduating from Stevenson High School. Shortly after graduating, Cathy joined the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. While in the U.S. Navy, Cathy met and married Philip Edward Skalak on June 23, 1978. Cathy was a horse lover and enjoyed everything from watching them grazing in a field to bucking a rider off. She was an avid reader, jigsaw puzzle player, RV camper, and enjoyed traveling this great country discovering its wonders and beauty.
Cathy was preceded in death by her father, George Ervin Ruff; mother, Margaret Ruff (Ashelman); sister, Shirley Higginbotham; and brother, George Richard Ruff.
Survivors include her husband, Philip; one daughter, Christina Skalak, of Eau Claire, WI; one son, John and wife Amber Skalak, of Paris, IL; and her brother, Reuban and wife Amanda Ruff, of Arkansas City, KS.
The family suggests memorials be to the ALS Association, 1300 Wilson Blvd, Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22209 or donate.als.org.
