Charles (Chuck) Douglas Kelley, 85, of Friona, TX passed away from this life on January 5, 2021.

Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Friday, January 8, 2021, in the Llano Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, in Amarillo, TX. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Chuck was born on July 2, 1935, in Childress, TX to O.K. and Joyce Kelley. He lived in Dallas, TX and Paris, TX before the family moved to Amarillo in 1951. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1953, and he entered the United States Army and served in Alaska. Chuck married and deeply loved Jean Beckel of Durham, OK, in 1958.

Chuck worked for Capitol Bearing Service where he rose to branch manager. In 1962, he and James Dunn founded Bearings and Materials Handling Co., and over the years their business expanded to Hereford, TX and Dumas, TX. After the sale of the company, Mr. Kelley managed a new Bearing store for a friend in Longview, TX. He spent some time in Angel Fire, NM owning and operating NAPA store before returning to Amarillo, TX in 1990.

Charles and Jean spent many happy hours together climbing mountains in New Mexico, Colorado, and a special peak in New Hampshire.

He was a Christian and a member of the Olsen Park Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Joyce Kelley, and brother, Larry Kelley.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Kelley, of the home; two sons, Doug and wife Ann Kelley, of Friona, TX, and Lawrence and wife Janice Kelley, of Bowling Green, KY; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

  1. A long time special friend. He and Jean were devoted to each other, to family& friends and most of all to the Lord.

  2. We are saddened to hear of Mr. Kelley passing. He will be missed until we meet again. Our prayers are with the family during this time of grief. May the peace of God be with each of you.

  3. My Aunt Joyce was a wonderful Christian woman who raised 2 son. Charles was a great man of God. The angels are sounding trumpets as the welcome him into heaven.
