Cheryl Kay Grice

Cheryl Kay Grice, 66, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Encounter Church, Amarillo, Texas. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Cheryl was born on May 10, 1956, in Albert Lea, Minnesota to DeBIom and Gayle Gullord. She was raised in Bricelyn, Minnesota and graduated from Bricelyn High School in 1974.

She attended college in Faribault, Minnesota where she earned a degree and worked as a Lab Technician in Mankato, Minnesota.

Her family moved from Minnesota to Texas in 1977. On February 5, 1982, she married Brad
Grice in Dalhart, Texas. They had two daughters, Charlsey and Callie. Cheryl had many dear friends and enjoyed baking for others, sewing, making jewelry, and singing. She had a steadfast faith and was very involved in her local church in Dalhart.

In 2012, she moved to Amarillo, Texas. She was a member at Encounter Church and loved volunteering at the Harrington Cancer Center.

She is survived by her mother, Gayle Gullord of Amarillo; two daughters, Charlsey and her husband Kim Forbess and granddaughters Emma and Abbigayle of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Callie Grice of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Mary and her husband Dan Olson of Joshua, Texas, DeAnne and her husband Ricky King of Amarillo, and Kathryn Gullord of Dallas, Texas; and a brother, Charles Gullord and his wife Debra of Visalia, California. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Mike Olson and wife Emily, Brett Olson and wife Taylor, Kay Leigh Verissimo and husband Derek, Candice Whitaker and husband Chris, AJ King and wife Haley, Aaron King, and Connor King.

She is preceded in death by her father, DeBlom Gullord.

  1. Although Cheryl was a few years younger than me, we became Facebook friends a few years ago. I remembered her from BHS. She was a wonderful soul, always having kind thoughts. May she rest in peace now with her Lord in heaven.

  2. I love reading all of these amazing tributes to Callie’s mom. I did not know her, but I know Callie, and that alone makes it clear that Cheryl was a remarkable, loving, giving person. Sending every wish for comfort and peace to this family.

  6. So sorry to hear about Cheryl passing. I have many good memories of her and her family growing up. I missed them when they moved to Texas.

  7. Cheryl was lovely! A dear friend. She cared for me during cancer treatments,. We sang together for many years at church and always stood beside each other in the Singing Christmas tree. She was such fun. She was so welcoming and a great conversationalist. I will miss that laugh and her witty humor.

  8. The BSA/Harrington Cancer Center is so sad to hear of the loss of our longtime, wonderful volunteer, Cheryl. She had a true servants heart; what a kind and loving woman she was. Even through her health battles, she remained optimistic. Cheryl, you will be greatly missed. Prayers for all your family members.

  13. All the family is inn my thoughts and prayers! I have many memories of Cheryl from BHS and music events and trips! And they all are great memories!! She certainly fought the good fight against diabetes and all it did to her! Now she is rejoicing in the rewards of the life she lived on earth!! (Hugs) and love to all the family!!

  20. I had become acquainted with Cheryl on Facebook. We both grew up in Bricelyn but I graduated in 1968.
    I am sorry that she is not with us here.

  23. Cheryl was an angel to my father when he was ill and housebound. She & her mother prepared some wonderful meals for him to enjoy. I know they were wonderful from the way Dad would describe them and tell me how much he’d enjoyed them. Cheryl’s wonderful smile was one that was always welcome and genuine. It was always a blessing to see her.

    May God grant an extra measure of His Grace and His Mercy to the family as you go through your time of olss and healing.
