
Cheryl Lynn (Abbananto) Craig, 75, of Amarillo, TX passed away Friday, June 2, 2023.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Pastor Joshua Light with FBC Panhandle as officiant. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Cheryl was born May 12, 1948, in Abilene, TX to Patrick and Maylon (Denton) Abbananto. She earned an Associate Degree in Business from Western Texas College in Snyder, TX. Before her retirement in December of 2015, Cheryl was the captain’s administrative assistant at Texas Department of Public Safety. Prior to that, she was an administrative assistant in marketing at Southwestern Public Service/Xcel Energy. After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling the Panhandle, following her grandsons’ many athletic events, and being their biggest cheerleader. Her favorite thing was her annual trip with her husband and pups to Ruidoso, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her father, Pat J. Abbananto and her mother, Maylan Abbananto.
She is survived by her husband, Rusty Craig; daughter, Renea Prather (Chad); son, Matthew Jackson; stepson, Clint Craig (Martha); grandchildren, Josh and Zach Prather, and Kai and Kethan Craig. She is also survived by a brother, Pat Abbananto (Pam) and his family; many close cousins and lifelong friends. And, we cannot forget her precious furbabies, Sophie and Rascal.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the charity of your choice in Cheryl’s name.
