Curtis (Curt) Gene Durham, 80, of Amarillo, TX passed away on January 6, 2021.

A memorial service will be held in the Spring so we can have an outdoor Potluck Picnic at his Church. The date will be announced at a later time.

Curt was born on June 23, 1940, in Tushka, OK. His parents were Lottie Mae and Charles Homer Durham. He went to a small school there and then the family moved to Hedley, TX where he continued to attend school there until he was in high school. At this time, he moved in with his older sister and her husband so he could attend school at Rochester High School located in Rochester, TX (this school was a better fit for him). Curt graduated from Rochester High in 1959

Curt married Florence Ione on April 29, 1967, at a chapel in Las Vegas called, The Wee Kirk of the Heather. They had each been married once before so they opted to just elope, and their close friends and family got a vacation from it! Las Vegas remained their favorite place for the rest of their time together.  They moved from Texas to Arizona and raised their children there until 1987. At this time, they moved to New Mexico and ran an RV park for a while. While living in Arizona, Curt worked for AT&T (formerly known as Western Electric) for over 20 years and then worked at a few places in New Mexico before moving back to Amarillo, TX in 1998. He worked at Scottco until the summer of 2007 when he finally decided to retire. He had several hobbies and was an excellent handyman. One of his favorite hobbies was camping and he took his kids and grandkids camping as often as he could. He valued his family and always took the time to be there for them. He devoted himself to them. He loved life and he was kind to everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lottie Mae; father, Charles Homer; brothers, Bill, and Marvie; sisters, Bonnie, and Helen; the love of his life and wife for 40 years, Florence Ione; and his precious daughter, Tami.

Survivors include his sisters, Dora Brown and Lora Cleveland; sister-in-law, DeDe; son, Dwain Durham and his wife Kristy; daughter, Theresa Brassfield and her husband Dennis; 5 beautiful grandchildren, Ashlee, Cody, Rachel, Kealy, and Ryan; 10 great-grandchildren, Faith, Jaxton, Atticus, Anson, Harper, Brixton, Zoey, Renley, Hadlee, and Asher; and his extended family.

In lieu of flowers, please be kind to one another. Daddy was so sad about the last few years and how everyone was always fighting and mean. He was one of the kindest people I knew and would help anyone with just about anything!
