Dale C. Keeney

Dale C. Keeney, 88, of Amarillo, TX died Sunday, December 18, 2022.

Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Dr. Howard K. Batson, and Rev. Corky Holland, of First Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial was private.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Dale was born August 12, 1934, in Amarillo, TX to Cleo and Lora Keeney.  He married Betsy Ann Cole in Clarendon, Texas at the home of Betsy’s grandparents.  They were married for 69 years.

He was a Boy Scout Leader for fifteen years and held the highest level of leader, The Silver Beaver.  Dale delivered Meals-on-Wheels until this past November, he was a Kids Inc. coach, school mentor at San Jacinto, member of Kiwanis Club, and deacon and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church.

He was a graduate of the FBI Academy, and police officer at Amarillo Police Department where he worked for 37 years (from 1957-1994).  Dale was a member of the second graduating class of the Amarillo Police Academy.  He retired as Lt. Dale C. Keeney.

He also was a loving son, a very active daddy and PaPa.  He believed in giving back as much as he could.  He happily chauffeured for his grandkids and great-grandkids.

He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Dale Keeney.

Survivors include his wife, Betsy Ann Cole Keeney; a son, Jimmy D. Keeney; a daughters, Mary C. Keeney and husband George A. Harrison, Kathy J. Keeney-Wright and husband Michael T. Wright; grandchildren, Sara Braunger and husband Bobby Braunger, and Sally Ann Wright Sipes and husband Will Sipes; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Braunger, and Kyler Braunger.
