Daryle Lee Boroughs

Daryle Lee Boroughs, 73, of Amarillo, TX passed while under the care of Ussery Roan Texas State Veterans Home on Sunday May 14, 2023.

Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Oasis Southwest Baptist Church, 8201 Canyon Dr. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Lee was born on July 4, 1949 to B.H. and Ruby Boroughs in Brownfield, TX. After graduating from Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch in 1967, Lee joined the Army and served his country in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star. Lee married Karen Beardsley on June 19, 1970. Lee and Karen had two children Bridget and Brian.

Lee devoted his life to helping and serving others at Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch as a Dorm Parent and the Potter County Juvenile Detention Center. Later, he was instrumental in the development of the Next Step Home at the Randall County Youth Center of the High Plains, helping young men and women transition into society after their time in detention. Lee touched the lives of family, friends, and untold numbers of youth throughout his years of service. Upon retirement, he worked for Kimrad Trucking and spent countless hours watching his grandkids and great-grandkids play, dance, and wrestle. Together, Lee and Karen have served at and were members of The Oasis Southwest Baptist Church since 1995.

Lee was preceded in death by his mother Ruby Boroughs; father B.H. Boroughs; sister Judy Padgett; Claude “Pa” Simmons; and Emma “Ma” Simmons.

Lee is survived by his wife Karen of Amarillo, TX; brothers Bill Boroughs and wife Colleen of Amarillo, TX and James Boroughs and wife Oleta of Amarillo, TX; daughter Bridget Taylor and husband Jared of Pampa, TX; son Brian Boroughs and wife Ginger of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren Kaylee Taylor, Chesney Taylor, Tripper Taylor, Brandon Boroughs, Cullin Alexander and Chelsy Lemarr and husband Jarrod; great-grandchildren, Krixus Ruiz, Emilia Alexander, and Gracelynn Lemarr; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.
