David Earl Smith, 74, of Amarillo, TX passed away on July 12, 2022.

David was born in Amarillo, TX on March 1, 1948, to Doris (Nicey) and Bill Smith. David loved his family and was always up to tell stories and brag about them. He shared three children with his wife of 42 years, Maralyn Smith. David loved his three children and their spouses, Mel Smith (Missy), Melanie White (Lance), and Molly Swagler (Andrew). He took great pride in being “Pappy” to his 8 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. David was especially close to his siblings, sisters Neno Smith and Paula Nichols (Dorman) and brother Bill Smith (Billie Anne).

David was a mechanic by trade and before retiring spent the majority of his career leading the transportation department at Affiliated Foods, a local distribution warehouse.

David was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother-in-law Dorman Nichols.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 2:00 P.M., at Bolton Street Baptist, 2555 Bolton Street.

  1. Saw about David’s passing thru the Palo Duro Class of 66. Don’t recall meeting him in high school but, saw he too was a Nam Survivor as myself. That made him a Brother to myself & others. Cheuhoi My Brother, Welcome Home……..

    all your relatives in Heaven.
    You and Gary Seymour were my first nephews
    that made me an Aunt at the ripe old age of 5.
    Your kids and mine were close in age and grew up together. Glad I got to see you here in Plainview a month or so ago. We will miss you
