David Ross Gillispie
David Ross Gillispie, 73, Amarillo, Texas passed away on April 17, 2023.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 20, 2023, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Mike Martin officiating. A private burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
David was born in Amarillo, Texas on November 27, 1949, to Ann Richards and Norman Ross Gillispie. He was raised in Borger, Texas, which is where he met Debbie Hicks. David married Debbie in Borger, Texas on March 11, 1972. This past year, they celebrated 51 years of marriage. His family meant the world to him, he loved spending time with his sons and grandchildren.
David attended Frank Phillips College and then went to serve in the Texas National Guard as a Second Lieutenant. He worked for Red Arrow Freight Lines for fifteen years and then Asarco Copper Refinery as a mechanic for twenty-seven years.
David never met a stranger. He was an Eagle Scout and an Assistant Scout Master for Troop 65.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; and brother, Bruce Wayne Gillispie.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Gillispie; sons, Scott Gillispie and wife Katherine, and Kevin Gillispie and wife Holly; grandchildren, Tristen Gillispie and fiancée Makenzie, Baylor Gillispie, Macie Gillispie, Patrick Allen, Paige Allen, and Archer Schroeder; nieces, Shana Collins, Janet Randolf and husband Tyler, and Tia Haseloff and husband Ray; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
