Denise Lynn (Hodges) Berryman

Denise Lynn (Hodges) Berryman, 73, of Amarillo, TX went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 30, 2020.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Amarillo.  Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

Denise was born to Samuel and Cecile Hodges on August 14, 1946 in Amarillo, TX.  She moved to Canadian, TX at an early age because of her father’s job with the Santa Fe Railroad then the family moved back to Amarillo where she lived out the rest of her life.  She attended Amarillo High School and Amarillo College.

Denise married James Berryman on December 31, 1966 at First Baptist Church in Amarillo where she and her family have been lifelong members.  They had just recently celebrated 53 years of marriage.  She worked at Bank of the Southwest for many years then went on to work for Dr. William East for 18 years.

Denise (Grammie) cherished her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother.  She had a love for her family that will never be forgotten.  She absolutely adored her grandchildren and would make an effort to be at every event no matter her pain or illnesses. Whether it was dodging volleyballs or foul balls, as she saw herself as a magnet for errant balls, she was always there to support her grandkids’ sporting events.  She was a die-hard Tascosa Rebels, Wrecking Crew, and Dumas Demonettes fan.  She will be dearly missed by all that knew her and especially her grandkids as they were such a very important part of her life.

Denise is survived by her husband, James L. Berryman; her two sons, Bryan Berryman and wife Lori, and Tony Berryman and wife Veronica; seven grandchildren, Brylie Kate Berryman, Brandt Berryman, Bennet Berryman, Brooklyn Berryman, Savannah Berryman, Spencer and Samuel Berryman; her nieces, Sheri Cash-Garcia and Lisa Boyd; and nephew, Mark Cash.
