Dennis Kent Tooms, 54, of Amarillo, TX passed away on August 31, 2022.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 7, 2022, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Jimmy and Kim Witcher officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Dennis was born in Borger, TX on October 10, 1967, to Phyllis and Kent Tooms. He graduated from Amarillo High School and went on to attend Baylor University where he received his bachelor’s degree in finance. Dennis was commissioned as a Lieutenant into the United States Air Force and served at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC, and Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM. He worked in Seattle, WA for Boeing as a project financial analyst.

Dennis grew up working at Beebe Lumber Company alongside his family.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Kent Tooms.

He is survived by his parents, Phyllis and Parker Beebe; siblings, Cynthia Braddy, Shelly Bridges and husband Terry, Ronn Beebe, and Paul Beebe; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and countless friends.

  1. Dennis and I were in AFROTC at Baylor together. I just saw a notice in the “In Memoriam” section of Baylor Magazine. Dennis was a good friend, an outstanding cadet, and I’m certain he was a fine USAF Officer.

  2. I always remember Dennis hand his big smile and his sweet countenance at Beebe Lumber Company, Inc. Many times that I walked in, he was very busy working and checking in making sure everything was in order. and then very friendly Such a good man and raised by such a good mama and a good stepfather, Parker. They truly exemplified what it means to care for your own. Even talking to him during his last days he still was trying so hard to be positive and upbeat and trying to do everything he possibly could to preserve his life.

  7. As a Civil Air Patrol Mission Pilot, I always felt lucky when I got to fly with Dennis. He was professional, ready, knowledgeable, responsive, helpful; just the kind of person a pilot wants and needs in the right seat. Amazing man, good friend.

  10. Phyllis and Parker, so SORRY for your loss. Greg stamps contacted me and informed me what happened, Dennis was a great person and I really enjoyed dealing with hum at the store. I was your Hillman rep from 2003 until your closing. Again, I’m SO SORRY!!!!!!!
