Donna Maureen Dolcater Burks

Donna Maureen Dolcater Burks, 84, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on March 16, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday April 6, 2024 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

Donna was born in Amarillo, Texas on September 10, 1939, to Frances Evelyn (Marshall) and H. D. “Bud” Dolcater. She graduated from Amarillo High School.

Donna loved dancing with her husband Charlie, reading, shopping thrift stores, gardening, and animals; especially her two cats, Tex and Dixie.  She was a very gifted painter, a master crafter, and a highly skilled seamstress; often sought out to create custom clothing pieces for numerous high-profile clients. Donna was always well put together; she never left the house for anything without her lipstick on and her hair done.  She loved jewelry, lipstick, her Canadian Mist, and a nice hot cup of Wendy’s chili.

Donna was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church where she was involved in the Altar Guild and loved being a part of the Parish.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles E. “Charlie” Burks, a daughter, Patricia Ann West, and granddaughter, Camille Howell.

She is survived by her daughters, Shannon Howell and husband Russ, and Judy Jackson and husband Wes; grandchildren O’Quinn Blount, Joshua Bates, Lauren Bates, Charlie Gray, and James “Jimmy” Gray; great-grandchildren, Krista West and husband Austin, Logan Douglas, Brayden Howell, Kelton Gray, and Karlee Jo Gray; great-great-grandchildren, Chloe West and Royce West; honorary family member, Donna Rivas; and numerous pets and grand pets. She was also “Nanny” to many step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to acknowledge Donna’s very special caregivers from her assisted living facility and her Enhabit Health Care nursing team she grew to love and built special bonds with while she was in their care. You all have become a very special part of the family, and we are grateful that Donna was so blessed to have had you for her care team.
