Douglas A. Griggs, 97, of Amarillo, TX passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, June 11, 2021.

Memorial services will be held in the Ware Chapel at Polk Street United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 11:00 A.M., with Chaplain Lane Boyd officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Douglas was born on January 21, 1924, in Quanah, TX to Letha and Pleas Griggs. He married the love of his life, Clara M. Palmer, in 1971 in Clovis, NM. Douglas joined the military in 1942. He proudly served in the United States Airforce for 24 years, from January 1942 to January 1966. He also served as a Methodist minister before retiring in 1999.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; his stepdad, John C. Wilson; his beloved wife, Clara; his sister, Dorothy Bills and husband James Bills.

He is survived by his adopted family, Ronni Dial and Cam Dial. Douglas had three special friends he loved dearly, Lane, Annie, and Celia. Special thanks to his two amazing caregivers, Ashley and Amber.

Our beloved Doug will be truly missed.
Although, for some reason, we were cut off from Douglas (Doggie) later in his life, he also had a half sister, Karen Sue Steinman, a half brother, Don Allen Griggs.
