Doyle “Steve” Steven Milam
Doyle “Steve” Steven Milam, 76, of Amarillo, TX passed away February 29, 2024.
Memorial service will be at 4:00 PM, Monday, March 4, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Steve was born March 1, 1947, in Fort Smith, AR to Doyal Lee and Edna “Jean” Milam. He graduated from High School then proudly served as a SGT Crew Chief for C130 in the United States Airforce. He worked as a mechanic owning his own business for many years.
Steve was an avid racer and crew chief and was inducted into the Amarillo Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2022. When not working, he enjoyed spending time with his friends, and most of all he loved spending the majority of his time helping family and local racers tuning their cars and providing guidance. He was proud of everyone involved with racing. Steve was very competitive and loved playing pool, cards, and dice games.
Steve didn’t have the best luck in the marriage department, but he finally found his true love, his ’98 Chevy Corvette, which he enjoyed working on and was constantly making improvements.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Edna “Jean” Milam; father, Doyal Lee Milam; and brother, Harold Wayne Milam.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Tammy Drury and husband Donny of Canyon, TX; son, Steve Milam, Jr. and wife Alisha of Canyon, TX; daughter, Heather Bernson and husband Chancy of Bushland, TX; a nephew, Jeff Milam and wife Brenda; great-nephews, Wayne Milam and wife Amanda and Aaron Milam and wife Ashley; grandkids, John Diamond and wife Shelbee, Matt Diamond and wife Hunter, Stephanie Wells, Ryan Milam, Zoee Tyler, Hunter Mitchell, Jaecie Mitchell, Jaxsyn Amero, and Michelle Amero; great-grandkids, Swayzee Diamond, Kambree Diamond, Krew Diamond, Gracelyn Milam, Alyssa Wells, and Amelia Wells; and his dog, Millie.
