Drew Jacob Pickering, born June 9, 1995 was a beloved and cherished son, brother, father, friend, blackberry boy, and a constant for everyone in his life. Drew, of Amarillo, TX, died Saturday, November 11, 2023.
Drew was raised in Amarillo where he graduated from Randall High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from West Texas A&M University. Drew worked as a computer programmer for Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins & Mott.
Drew embodied selflessness. He would celebrate his birthday on a separate day so that a big fuss wouldn’t be made over him, but would spoil others with memorable gifts for their birthdays. He made everyone feel like a priority and would drop everything when called to help. Drew was so nervous about becoming a father, but that all changed when he saw Piper for the first time. Piper was his world, and he was a wonderful father. He loved to watch the Cowboys with his girls, Rachael and Piper, and loved to play video games with his brothers. He learned many life lessons alongside his mother who showed him endless support. Drew loved everything Golden Girls and could lighten up any situation with a joke or a story. He was one of a kind and will truly be missed. Drew Pickering, we love you as big as the sky.
He is survived by his companion, Rachael Widener of Amarillo, TX, daughter Piper Pickering of Amarillo, TX; mother, Wendy Volden, and husband Kent, of Amarillo, TX; father, Jason Pickering, and wife Tracey, of Frisco, TX; brothers Bailey Pickering and wife Macy, Matthew Pickering, Kian Volden, and stepbrothers Greyson Pickering and Kerrington Pickering; grandparents, Kathy and Van Northern of Amarillo, TX.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Erick Kirby officiating. Arrangements provided by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

I have no words to express my profound sadness for the loss of our beloved Drew. He was my great-nephew, but even more so, he was my dear friend! I watched him grow from a tiny baby into a tall and handsome young man. He was love embodied, a precious gift from God! Drew, our hearts are broken and it will take time to heal. But at the same time my heart rejoices because I know where you went in your transition from a man back to your eternal and immortal soul!! Thank you, Drew for the 29 years your love, laughter and kindness filled my heart with joy!! I love you, Drew.
Drew will be so very missed! I will be praying for Rachael, Piper and the rest of his family. I pray you all find the strength to get through this hard time and find comfort in those that surround you with love.
I will love you forever and always little buddy!
My Condolences to Piper, Rachel, his entire Family and Friends. It was a pleasure working with you Drew! You will definitely be missed in the Halls at Perdue Brandon. 💜
May your Soul Rest.
