Edith “Edie” Mae Cotoni

 

Edith “Edie” Mae Cotoni, 78, of Amarillo, TX passed away on July 28, 2022.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Llano Cemetery.

Edie was born to Lillian (nee Sousa) and Jerry Cotoni on March 19, 1944, in Waltham, MA. She was one of twelve children. As a child, she and her sisters would dance and sing at Veteran hospitals and military bases. They were known as the “Cotoni Sextet”. She learned to dance jazz and ballet. As a teen, she was a competitive figure skater. She also performed on stage in local dramas. She received a degree in business administration and a graphic design certificate from Amarillo College. She worked as a substitute teacher and at Excel Energy. She enjoyed cooking Italian food using her favorite family recipes. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Cotoni; her mother, Lillian Cotoni; brothers, Jerry J. Cotoni, Bernard Cotoni, Neil Cotoni, Robert Cotoni, and James Cotoni; and sisters, Lillian Callahan, Carolyn “Kay” Miani, Ann Leary, and Joan Bayne.

She is survived by sisters, Helen Kopischke, and Irene Harding; daughters, Teresa Roop, and Michaele Campbell; son John F. Campbell Jr.; grandchildren, Matthew Roop, Amanda Roop, and Agustin “Ian” Fabela; and great-grandchildren, Kennedie Johnson and Thaddeus Turks.
