Ed was born in Wellington, Texas to Ed and Bessielee (Wright) Fancher on December 22, 1926.

He grew up in Geary, Oklahoma, played football and the trumpet in the band, and was an Eagle Scout.  Drafted out of high school into the Navy, Ed spent a little over a year before WWII ended. While he didn’t see any action, he did make it to Alaska thus qualifying him as a VFW.

Ed was a partner for almost 45 years and actively involved in the establishment of an offshoot of theirs, Corporate Systems.

He was active in his church and community, spearheading fundraising for the Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Research Center, and on the boards of many organizations, the Boy Scouts, Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch as well as the Insurance Agents, American National Bank, Amarillo Board of Realtors, the Chamber of Commerce, Homebuilders, Cerebral Palsy Center, and a member of the Masons/Khiva Shrine and Polk Street United Methodist Church.

  1. I have known Ed and Shirley since 1980. Two of the most wonderful caring human beings ever. I had the privilege of working for Ed at Ordway-Saunders and traveled with him many times for business. I loved his sense of humor. He blessed many who crossed his path and will be missed.

  2. Mrs. Fancher, I was so sad to hear of Mr. Fancher’s passing. I had an extended family funeral service to attend at the same time, & was unable to be at the service. Mom was always so fond of the two of you. You are in my thoughts & prayers.

  3. Shirley,

Nita and I regret that we could not attend Ed’s service. We were on a vacation trip, almost six hundred miles east of Amarillo, on the day of Ed’s funeral. We saw his obituary in the paper the day before we left home, and it broke our hearts. I hope you know how much we have valued our friendship with the two of you through all the years we’ve shared together. You’re in our thoughts and prayers.

  4. I remember Mr Fancher from when I worked at the Amarillo Club in high school, was always nice to me and again after starting my insurance career worked at Corporate Systems in sales of the risk management program. He again was always nice to everyone.
