Elsie H. Jackson

Elsie H. Jackson, 90, passed on May 19th, 2022. A graveside service will be at 11:00 am, Monday, May 23, 2022, at the Dumas Cemetery. All are welcome to attend. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.

Elsie was born on September 6th, 1931, to George and Amalia Hauser in Canton, Ohio. Elsie is predeceased by two brothers, Henry and Walter Hauser. She is survived by her son, Kevin Jackson of Ft. Worth, and her daughter Carolyn Nelson and husband Gary of SW of Dumas. In addition, the five grandchildren are Kyle and Kory Jackson, Kayla Fernandez and her husband Tory, Blake Nelson, Trey Nelson, and great-granddaughter Kai Fernandez.

Fred and Elsie met in Washington, DC, in 1953. She worked for the US state department, and he was stationed there with the Army. They married in Canton, Ohio on November 21, 1954.

She and Fred chose to settle in Dumas in 1957. Elsie was first a homemaker but also worked alongside Fred in their irrigation business. After retirement, their passion was growing outstanding vegetables and being involved in the local Farmer’s Market.

Elsie graduated from WTAMU, with a BA degree in English Education.

A great passion of Elsie’s was being an Adult Educational Instructor, specifically with ESL and GED preparation classes.

In her own words, Elsie once wrote, “I realized as a teenager that God was stirring and tugging at my heart prior to the moment I received Christ. The joy and peace that I felt when I received Christ is almost indescribable. Perhaps these feelings are just a glimpse of what heaven must be like.”  Her family takes such comfort in these words, knowing she now knows.

All who knew and loved Elsie speak of how kind she was and what a sweet and peaceful spirit she had.

The family wishes to thank you for your support and prayers during this time.

Memorial Donations are accepted and can be made to Culture Cross Ministries, 2303 South Arthur Amarillo, Texas 79103.
