Emma Ruth Fariss
Emma Ruth Fariss, 91, of Amarillo, Texas died Saturday, December 17, 2022.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 22, 2022, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Danny Logan officiating. Burial will be at Parkland Cemetery in Plainview, Texas. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Ruth was born on May 10, 1931, in Floydada, Texas to Myrtle Ruth Nelson and Walter Dave Standefer. She attended Wayland Baptist University and then went to work at Pioneer Natural Gas Company in Plainview where she later met her husband. She married Nicks Val Fariss on April 19, 1963, in Plainview, TX.
Ruth stayed home and raised four children before rejoining the workforce when the youngest began school. She then worked as a church secretary for many years. In 1980, the family moved to Amarillo and she began working at Amarillo High School. She was the secretary to the principal at Amarillo High for many years.
She was an active member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church and helped in the community whenever possible.
Ruth is preceded in death by; Husband, Nicks Val Fariss; Daughters, Janice Yvonne Fariss, and Cheryl D’Lee Kyle (Fariss).
She is survived by; Son, James David Fariss; Daughter, Kimberly Val Flinn (Fariss); Son in Law, Michael Shaun Flinn; Grandson, Jacob Michael Flinn; Granddaughter, Emma Mae Flinn; Son in Law, Alan Kyle; Grandson, Thomas Parker Kyle (wife Michelle); Granddaughter, Katie Lee Kyle Wilder (wife Rachel), and a great-granddaughter, Eden Cheryl Kyle.
