Enrique Roque Bustamante, 85, of Amarillo, TX passed away on February 11, 2023.

Rosary will be said at 6:30 P.M., Tuesday, February 14, 2023, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Mass will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Jose Gómez as celebrant. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Enrique was born in La Boquilla, Chihuahua, Mexico, on July 15, 1937, to Benito and Maria de Jesus Roque Bustamante. He married Natalia Duran Bustamante on January 31, 1959.

Enrique had worked for Western Builders, Ritter Construction, and Reynosa Construction and was a skilled carpenter.

Enrique was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. He also loved building and painting things. His hobbies were fishing, cooking, and dancing.  He enjoyed everything outdoors and listening to his music. He was a member and an usher at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Enrique was a loving husband, father, Papa (grandfather and great-grandfather), brother, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dora Bustamante Solis; parents, Benito and Maria de Jesus Roque Bustamante; and brother, Mario Bustamante Roque.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Natalia Bustamante; daughter, Mary Escoto and husband Tony; five grandchildren, Amy Maldonado and husband Gabriel, Monica Edwards and husband Tim, Carlos Vigil, Monisa Escoto, and Mariah Norman and husband Lake; four great-grandsons, Gabriel “Guerro” Maldonado, Jr., Devin Maldonado, Ayden Edwards, and Ashton Edwards; and siblings, Cira Reynosa, Morayma Lambert, Elena Wright, Alicia Capello, Antonio Fierro, Yolanda Bustamante, Benito Bustamante, Rosalio Bustamante, Maria De Jesus Bustamante, and Elvira B. Lopez.

The family would like to give a special thanks to BSA Hospital, the nurses, and Dr. George.

  7. My deepest condolences to the Bustamante family! The Perez family has wonderful memories growing up next door to the family when Chuchie and Dora were little girls! Continued being friends and Compadres till my parents passed away! I left Amarillo but they will always love the family! Love you Natalia and Mary and family.
