
Eric Alexis Smith, 49, of Amarillo, TX passed away on October 17, 2023.
Memorial service will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Eric was born November 12, 1973, in Amarillo, TX to Mark and Robin Bray Smith. When he was younger, he enjoyed rodeo. He rode broncs and bulls.
Eric served in the United States Army National Guard and was deployed to White Sands, and Iraq (January 2005 – December 2005). He worked for Potter County Sheriff’s Office for ten years where he was a Deputy Sherriff. He also worked for Amarillo College Police Department for three years.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Mildred Smith, of Amarillo, TX; grandfather, Emit Smit, of Amarillo, TX; grandmother, Lora Bray, of Amarillo, TX; grandfather, Irving Bray, Sr., of Amarillo, TX; aunt, Betty Carol Smith Moolick, of Phoenix, AZ; cousin, DeLana Honaker, of Amarillo, TX.
Eric is survived by his father, Mark Eric Smith, of Temecula, CA; mother, Bobbie (Robin) Smith, of Amarillo, TX; son, Colby Ryan McLeland and wife Devon of Amarillo, TX; daughter, Ashely Renea Qualls, of Amarillo, TX; brother, William Boone Smith, of Amarillo, TX; sister, Tiffanie Marie Roybal and husband Jacob Roybal, of Amarillo, TX; nieces and nephew, Victoria Whitney Smith, Jayla Ramirez, and Jayden Bilbrey, all of Amarillo, TX; aunt, Linda Kay Honaker, of Amarillo, TX; aunt, Paula Allen and husband Robert John Allen, of Lakeway, TX; uncle, Phil Smith and wife Aleda Smith, of Greenville, TX; uncle, Stanton Bray, of Amarillo, TX; close friend of the family, Kaylynn Sherrill; and extended family of many cousins and best friends.
I’ll miss you brother. I enjoyed the times we shared at the FOP lodge. Got it finished in time for that Christmas party. Enjoyed working at Potter County with you too. Hold the line.
Be at peace Eric. Your are safe in the arms of the Lord God who gave you life. You are healed and whole now. I am proud of your service to our country and to your city and county. Thank you for all you have done. I give you my respect honour and love.

Your smiling face will be missed my friend, but uor childhood memories will always be kept close to my heart. All my love & prayers for peace for your momma, (that was like a mom to all of us softball girls,) and the family.

Eric was a Precious & Dedicated Young Man💜He was always Upbeat & Smiling No Matter What😘He Loved Life & his Mother Robin Marie was Always there for Him. He will be Truly Missed!!
